The guide to smart shopping

I like to believe I’m a smart shopper. It took a while to become one, but I’ve been doing smart shopping for quite some years now. My husband says I’m indecisive :)) but it’s only being smart. I search for the items that best suite my needs & my wishes.

Maybe you’ll ask yourself what in the world I’m talking about… Smart shopping means know yourself, know what you need and buy only what you love.

Follow this guide and get the most out of the money you spend:

[quote_box_center]The first step in knowing what you want is finding out what you need.[/quote_box_center]

At least 2 times a year, do an inventory of your closet. Like that, you’ll know exactly what you need and avoid spending money on similar clothes. Make a shopping wish list (on a paper or in your head) with those items. Next time you are in a shop and you see something from your list go ahead and grab it.

[quote_box_center]Don’t spend money on things you’ll not be wearing.[/quote_box_center]

Buying a piece of clothing that you don’t wear is like buying a TV you don’t use. If you want to “throw” your money, go ahead and give them to charity; at least they’ll be better spend and you do a nice thing for someone.

[quote_box_center]Buy only what you love. [/quote_box_center](that’s why my husband says I’m indecisive)

I like to look around before I make a decision. I rarely buy from the first shop and I only do it when I fall in love.  Buying something you really really like and fancy about it’s an assurance that you’ve spend your money right.

[quote_box_center]Check the websites before you hit the shops.[/quote_box_center]

The major fashion companies have really good websites that show you what you’ll find in their stores. Like that, you’ll know where to go and lose less time walking around all shops. I do this especially when I’m searching for something in particular.

[quote_box_center]Avoid impulse shopping like you avoid going to the supermarket when you’re hungry.[/quote_box_center]

Acting on an impulse usually leads to regret. Be smart.

[quote_box_center]When in doubt, leave the store.[/quote_box_center]

Your instincts always help. They do the job with shopping too.  Give yourself a little bit of time to think, like 24 hours for example, and if you dream it that night, go back and buy it.  :))

[quote_box_center]Think before you buy[/quote_box_center]… at what you’ll be wearing it with or where you might were it. If it makes sense,  then you already know what you have to do, right?

[quote_box_center]Know your body[/quote_box_center] so you can make the best decisions for it. You can read this article for helpful info.

    [quote_box_center]Don’t be a fashion victim.[/quote_box_center]

I have one thing to say about this and these are not my words: “Fashion fades, only style remains the same” – Coco Chanel

    [quote_box_center]Everybody loves a bargain.[/quote_box_center]

I haven’t met one person that doesn’t love sales.  Fast fashion companies (H&M, ZARA etc) sometimes bring new items in their stores every week. That means that if you see a jacket that you like at the beginning of the season and want to purchase it at sales, my guess is that in most cases you won’t find it. If you are an S –M it will be even harder, because they are the first ones that get sold.  My advice to you: hit the shops with that list in your head and buy what you find then. Don’t buy because it’s cheap, buy because you love it, need it and want it. The “cheap” thing is a plus.

That being said, happy smart shopping dears,

    Gia
